The overarching goal of Brighter Day Therapeutic Solutions (BDTS) trauma services is to help individuals and families heal from abusive and traumatic life experiences.
Therapeutic services are designed to help individuals and families cope with trauma and its connected grief reactions. A combination of treatment approaches are utilized, such as Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, etc. The client’s needs, however, are the final determinant of the approach used to support recovery. Trauma treatment services open the door to communication and normalize the feelings resulting from traumatic experiences. A traumatic experience can be, but is not limited to:
- Domestic Violence
- Emotional Abuse
- Foster Care
- Physical Abuse
- Sexual Abuse
- Witness to Violence
Benefits to seeking help after exposure to a traumatic event:
- Understanding the impact of what has happened to you.
- Find comfort and learning to take care of yourself.
- Learning positive coping and recovery.
- Getting support from others.
Three important things to look for in a psychotherapist:
- The therapist needs to be qualified to do psychotherapy.
The therapist needs to have specialized training and experience working with trauma survivors.
- You need to feel there is a good fit between your personality and that of the therapist.
